A bit of history on the rugby club:
Ballyclare Rugby Football Club was formed on 20th May 1949 and a team existed when jerseys cost a half-crown each! Ballyclare R.F.C. known then as Ballyclarians was formed by a small group of men. Staffy Carmichael’s pub in Ballyeaston was the meeting place in the early days, and it was there that the emblem of the White Hare was decided upon.
“The growth of the club has been quite remarkable culminating with excellent grounds and clubhouse (provided by the Old Ballyclarians Association) which rates as one of the best in Ulster.”
Since the opening of this building in 1991, the club has gone from strength to strength by adding a rugby pitch, a cricket square has been laid down as well as a new “all weather” hockey pitch has also been completed.
The new kits look great and we wish the club all the best for the season!
